The good news is that Nova Scotia's new Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) program for packaging and paper products means more items can go into your blue bag, including some plastics and packaging that were not accepted before.
Under EPR, the cost of recycling is shifted from municipalities to the companies that produce packaging. This helps create a more efficient recycling system and supports waste reduction across the province.
